Cinephilosophy On the other side of our eyeballs
Bruce Paterson's Idle Thoughts:

Maybe one day I'll find more than a dozen people who also thought Chasing Amy was terrible. I don't like my chances, having typed "hate Chasing Amy" into Google, with only 14 matches. Maybe I was just having a bad day in the cinema.

My cinephilosophy is simple, really. I'm interested in the narrative technique of film, and the clash of the subjective and objective in reviewing. But what does that mean? I tried to distill something from my reviews of Hulk, Whale Rider, In The Cut and Kill Bill and it seems that I like films that try something different, that connect emotionally...or have the occasional scifi or swordfighting theme. Hmmm.

And I don't like dissing something that people have put their time and energy into. But sometimes it has to be done. Could I have made a better film? Maybe, if I got out of my armchair for long enough.

It must be time for a list of recent films I've seen....Until next time!

Bruce
