Samson And Delilah (1949)

Ham acting and gaudy production design make for classic camp in what is a kind of florid reworking of DeMille's own 1923 film, The Ten Commandments, and a precursor to his 1956 remake of that film..

Victor Mature plays Samson and Hedy Lamarr is Delilah.whilst, incongruously, George Sanders and Angela Lansbury fill in the support roles in what is a combination of papier-maché spectacle and risible chest-heaving dramatics foisted on the venerable Biblical tale. Tacky as it looks today it was a huge box office hit in its day and won Oscars for its Art Direction and Costume Design.
