Railroaded

This gangster flick starts well-enough but quickly degenerates into a hasty 71 minute bolt that leaves all the elements of the promising plot scantily motivated and the characters blurry in this story of a beautician (Sheila Ryan) and her crooked boyfriend (John Ireland) who attempt to rob a bookie operation located in the parlour's back room. When the plan goes wrong, they frame an innocent man (Hugh Beaumont).

B grade specialist Mann gives us some stylish moments notably with the shoot-out between Ireland and Beaumont at the film's end but this is one film that deserves a remake.

FYI:  Re-titled, and edited down to 26 minutes, it was sold to television in the early1950's as part of a syndicated half hour mystery show.
