Adapting a novel itself based on real events, by former security guard, Devon Minchin about a series of heists at a Sydney security company, it is in the '50s American B-grade tradition of films such as
Armored Car Robbery (1950) but with a distinctly Australian rough edge about it in all respects. For all its lack of sophistication evident especially in the at-times awkward dialogue and performances the cracking pacing makes it engaging stuff
Starring many of the big names of 1970s television such as Tony Bonner, Candy Raymond, Terry Donovan and an up-and-coming Bryan Brown and with an unusually prominent role for Ed Devereaux as the ex-cop seeking redemption, it is a grittily realistic film that will please fans of the genre.
